The mind of a substitute teacher can be a very interesting one. Many people ask me of my experiences and wonder about the things I have to put up with on a day to day basis that I decided to host a blog about it and share those experiences with you. Take a second, take it all in, embrace it, and now let it out and enjoy my story.
I subbed for a math class filled with little monster students on a day where the teachers in the school were doing some meetings with their illegitimate parents. I had the chance to talk to this teacher, and if there is one thing I hate about this job is when a teacher slams substitute teachers. She began telling me about her lesson plan for the day by telling me about how bad other substitute teachers were. Lady, who f#$king cares? Most of the time, those teachers that complain about "bad" substitutes are the ones with terrible classroom management skills themselves. I think I have the problem nailed down with this lady though, she looked a lot like Jabba the Hut to the left. She also had a mustache and smelled like cigarettes that only led to my further disdain and lack of respect for her as a professional.
I work this job, and notice how terrible these students are. This is nothing new, and really I do not have enough energy nor care to complain about the students in this area as I have grown accustomed to the situation we like to call "failed parenting" in my area. However, I cannot stand teachers who set up a shitty learning environment and set the burden on another individual who was there for a day. A lot of these teachers like to cry wolf when people try to suggest ways in which they do their jobs and when they are criticized citing that their critics aren't the ones managing the class.
Fuck it, I took her big box of Ho-Ho's and gave them all to the students. They appreciated it and we all did her a favor.
